A road rage incident early Sunday morning in Sonoma County, California turned into a DUI arrest of an 18-year-old driver. Police stopped the Acura driven by Carlos Gomez after receiving a phone call from a woman claiming to be the victim of road rage. Gomez was subsequently arrested for DUI, driving without a license, driving without insurance and assault with a deadly weapon-his car.
Erica Hopper, 33-year old woman of Speedwell, TN, faces multiple charges following an accident Sunday morning. Hopper reportedly shot her husband and then crashed her car while rushing him to the hospital. In response to the accident, police have charged Hopper with driving under the influence. She was not immediately released from jail and her husband, James Hopper II is listed in stable condition at University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Edward Stapinski, ad 34-year-old Lockport, IL officer, was involved in an auto accident Sunday that claimed the life of 29-year-old, Vietnamese immigrant Man "Mike" K. Wong who was traveling home from his second job. Stapinski is reportedly a 7 year veteran of the Lockport Police Department. His blood alcohol level has not yet been released.
Officer Anthony Green of the St. Petersburg, FL Police Department is accused of crashing into two different vehicles and driving away while drunk late Friday night. Neither of the other drivers was injured; however, there was property damage to both vehicles. When police went to the home of 30-year-old Green, they found him still in his vehicle. His blood alcohol level reportedly tested at 0.179% and 0.173%.
Patricia Farris, a 5-year veteran of the Roanoke County Police Department, was arrested on Saturday by a colleague at sobriety checkpoint. Farris has been recognized for her efforts in putting molesters and murderers in jail; most notably, a 2007 case which convicted a man of molesting a 4-year-old student at a day care center and a 2008 case which convicted a many of murdering the mother of his 2 daughters. Now, Farris faces DUI, refusal and disregarding an officer's signal charges.
Early Thursday morning, Porter County Indiana police officers pulled over24-year old Zachary Duis. He was charged with drunk driving after explaining to police: "Dude, I do this every night; I'm straight up and not drunk!" Duis blood alcohol level registered almost four times the state's legal limit for driving. Duis was also wanted on warrants for resisting law enforcement and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Surveillance video at the home of Michael Difalco, a convicted drug dealer, recorded Polk County Florida undercover drug investigators goofing off while serving a search warrant. The video shows the investigators taking turns bowling on Difalco's Wii while searching through evidence. While Polk County officials call the situation an embarrassment, they maintain it will not have any effect on the case against Difalco.
NYPD Sergeant Joseph Spiekerman is facing DUI and vehicular assault charges after running over a 68-year-old man. Spiekerman was reportedly trying to beat a red light when he struck the victim who, four months after the accident, is still in a wheelchair. Although he refused to take a breath test, Spiekerman's blood was eventually subpoenaed by the court and registered a .11 nearly 6 hours after the incident. Spiekerman is a 15-year police veteran.
Reginald Leonard Davis was arrested Sunday in Virginia Beach on drunk driving charges. While in the magistrate's office, Davis reportedly "became agitated and fought with the officers". Two of the Virginia Beach officers were taken to the hospital for injuries sustained during the incident. Davis is being held without bond on charges of DUI, assaulting a police office, driving on suspended license, failure to maintain a lane, no seatbelt, improper seat adjustment and driving without registration.
J. C. France, grandson of Bill France Sr., founder of NASCAR, was arrested for DUI and possession of cocaine after he was confronted by police for racing. France is said to have been racing a 2007Lamborghini against Russell Van Richmond, a former roommate and stepbrother. Van Richmond was also arrested on multiple charges and France will be suspended by Grand-Am.
Heather Choulos, a 32-year old California woman, was charged with child endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after police observed her 13-year old son driving her and her boyfriend home after a bottle of wine. Choulos and her boyfriend, Donald Hughes, both reportedly have prior DUI convictions and were trying to avoid another.
Sandra Dee Steiner was sentenced to serve 5 years in prison following conviction of her fifth DUI, felony criminal endangerment, habitual traffic offender and driving without insurance. The arrest that lead to these convictions was made after police received 911 calls reporting a drunk driver. When police arrived, Steiner pulled her car over nearly striking pedestrians, running into a trash can, and eventually backing into the patrol car.
Just hours after being arrested on drunk driving charges, Timothy Peare, a 29-year-old New Jersey man, was arrested for attempting to steal a vehicle. After being spotted in a tow truck after lot hours, Peare reportedly admitted that he was attempting to start the tow truck to remove his impounded vehicle.
A 51-year old man was arrested in New Mexico on Monday for a DUI charge with a BAC of .393. The suspect reportedly had previously been arrested 5 times in New Mexico and 16 times elsewhere on DUI charges; however, the number of DUI convictions is unknown.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's office is requesting anyone with information on the whereabouts of Joseph S. Schrotz contact them. Schrotz is wanted for grand larceny, disregarding a signal to stop, reckless driving and driving on a revoked license as a result of a December 11th pursuit of a stolen car. Andre Tyrone Washington was initially signaled to stop by police in Maryland Wednesday morning for a routine traffic stop. When Washington continued to drive into across the state line, Virginia State Police picked up the pursuit. Washington was finally taken into custody in Fairfax County after his car rammed into a police cruiser. He was taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital for injuries and was charged with resisting arrest, felony eluding, reckless driving, damaging state property and assault.
Dominick Wise, a 25 year-old Culpeper man is facing charges in Culpeper and Spotsylvania Counties after an incident Sunday that spanned the two counties. Wise allegedly drove from Culpeper to Spotsylvania with his girlfriend in the car against her will. Officers first attempted to stop Wise after he ran a stop sign in Culpeper. Wise's girlfriend then called police to inform them of the vehicle's whereabouts and Wise was arrested. He his facing felony eluding, driving on suspended license, reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop sign in Culpeper; and, kidnapping and driving on a suspended license in Spotsylvania.
Elias Abu Elazam, a 33-year-old Middle Eastern immigrant was arrested in Atlanta Wednesday on an outstanding 2008 assault warrant from Leesburg as he tried to board a plane bound for Israel. Elazam is suspected in as many at 18 stabbings in Leesburg, VA; Flint, MI; and Toledo, OH. Elazam's ex-wife and mother-in-law and former employer were reportedly shocked at the accusations. Elazam lived in Leesburg from 1998 until 2008; he was married in Leesburg in 2004 and divorced in 2007. Oh, and he got a Virginia fishing license in 2006.
A loss prevention officer at Wegman's in Fredericksburg, VA observed a woman leave the store with over $400 worth of groceries for which she had not paid. When the officer confronted the woman she refused to wait for police, left the groceries and drove her and her children away. Michelle Carrasco, a 32-year old woman of Stafford County, drove to the police station herself to complain about how the store had treated her. Carrasco was arrested for felony shoplifting and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor after it was brought to officers' attention she was caught on tape leaving the store without paying for her items.
Andrew Wren, 20-years-old, was arrested in Fairfax County on several charges after he allegedly burglarized a Virginia ABC store. This arrest adds to the 12 crimes of which Wren has been accused since last year. Wren was found on a getaway canoe with roughly a dozen bottles of Patron.
Artie Ellis, 15 years old, and Emily Drew Geller, 18 years old, are being held without bail in Montgomery County Correctional Facility (Maryland) on robbery and murder charges. Ellis and Geller allegedly hit their victim, 57-year old Ali Reza Zare, over the head with a shovel, robbed him and left him for dead.
Robert George Howard was arrested Wednesday following a chase that spanned the Virginia counties of Hampton, Newport News and York. Howard allegedly forced the driver of the 2007 Ford Mustang to drive to several locations and to withdraw money, finally letting the victim out of the car and fleeing in his vehicle. Ultimately, Howard what charged in Hampton County with carjacking, robbery, abduction and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony; and state police charged him with grand larceny, DUI, reckless driving, driving on suspended-4th offense, and littering. Howard is 30-years old and is being held without bond in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
