Former Winchester Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Hampton Thomson was arrested Monday, charged with conspiring to tamper with evidence and a witness. Thomson is accused of visiting an informant several times while the informant was on drugs. The informant claims he sold cocaine to Thomson. Thomson says he recently suffered from "a post-traumatic stress breakdown." Thomson was the Commonwealth's Attorney in Winchester for four years until he lost a re-election bid in 2001.
