Man Leaped into Oncoming Traffic After Accident; Charged with Reckless Driving

Posted on May 08, 2012
Corbin G. Shannon, a 21-year old Oakton man, was involved in an accident Monday evening on I-66 near Manassas.  Shannon reportedly stopped on the shoulder then swerved his Honda into oncoming traffic.  The Honda hit a cargo van and then the jersey wall.  When the driver of the van got out to check on the situation, Shannon “threw open his door and ran out into westbound traffic.”  Shannon jumped on four oncoming vehicles.  When police arrived, Shannon was “just standing there” on the shoulder.  He was then flown by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital for observation.  Police have charged Shannon with reckless driving, destruction of property-for smashing the windshield of one of the cars he jumped on-, pedestrian on the interstate and interfering with passing vehicles on a highway.  Drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor in this bizarre incident.
