Newington Man Pulled Over for Virginia DUI Led Police on Chase

Posted on Apr 15, 2011
On Saturday March 12, 2011, a Newington man was pulled over by a Prince William County policeman on suspicion of DUI in Virginia. The driver was stopped around 2:11 a.m. near Westridge Drive and Old Bridge Road in Occoquan.

After police officers initially pulled over the driver, he sped away and a car chase started. The driver continued driving on Westridge Drive and stopped just before Quarterhorse Lane in Lake Ridge, at which point he got out of his vehicle and ran on foot. Prince William police caught up to the man and arrested him, concluding the pursuit.

The driver was charged with felony eluding, driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license. Oliver Rivera-Valdivia, the 25-year-old driver, of the 6900 block of Hamilton Court in Lorton, has a court date scheduled for May 3. However, his bond information is not available and police have not provided that as of the time of this article.
