NFL Player Arrested for Driving Under the Influence in VirginiaPosted on Jan 26, 2011
The football player was identified as Washington Redskins defensive lineman 25-year-old Joe Louis Joseph. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office told the Loudoun Times-Mirror, "It appears that our officer responded to a possible accident - a vehicle off Ryan Rd. at the intersection with Brambleton Plaza." The Sheriff's Office did not release Joseph's BAC level; however, they did say he was over the legal limit. Joseph was released on Monday afternoon as this DUI is his first.
The Washington Redskins released a statement saying that Joe Joseph has expressed remorse for his DUI charges and arrest. The team is not making any further comments until this situation is handled properly through the legal process.
This DUI arrest comes only 24 hours after Joseph made his NFL debut. He had just played his first game as a Redskin after he joined the practice squad and was promoted to the main roster. The Redskins won 20-17 over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Redskins Senior Vice President Tony Wyllie said, "we're gathering all the facts right now. And that's really all I can say."
