Dena Wake

Case Manager and Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • The Wilson Law Firm
  • 9300 Grant Ave Ste 301 Manassas VA 20110
  • (703) 361-6100

Dena holds a B.A. in Government, Politics, and Policies, a Paralegal Certificate from Boston University, and a Master's in Law from Trinity College Dublin. Before joining The Wilson Law Firm, she worked as an Intake Specialist at a Social Security law firm, where she handled case screening and communicated with clients.

Dena joined The Wilson Law Firm as an office assistant and now serves as a Case Manager. In that time she has developed a working knowledge of the firm's practice areas and of what preparing a criminal or traffic case for court requires, from the documents a client needs to provide to the deadlines that govern a case as it moves through the courts.

Dena fields calls from potential clients and provides direct legal support to Mr. Sobchak. She also supports case preparation for all of the firm's attorneys, from drafting initial correspondence to handling continuances. That last piece has meant learning the Commonwealth's courts one at a time, because a continuance that is routine in one Virginia courthouse is requested differently in the next. She handles client outreach and administrative work as well.

Dena has completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 24-hour course, DWI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. Being stopped on the side of the road is disorienting, and people often replay it afterward wondering what they should have done differently. When a client's stop involved field sobriety testing, Dena can understand what they went through, and connect with them over that experience rather than treating it as information to collect.
