Kelly grew up in a military family, relocating every two to three years until her father retired from the Army and she finished high school in Northern Virginia. That upbringing meant repeatedly arriving somewhere new and learning to read a room quickly, which turned out to be useful preparation for work that involves meeting people on the worst day they have had in a while. She earned a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Psychology from Old Dominion University in 2006.
Before joining The Wilson Law Firm, Kelly spent more than a decade in customer service, management, and team leadership. For over five years she managed customer accounts and requests at T.B.I. Lawn Care Professionals, Inc., where she was responsible for the whole of the customer relationship rather than a single transaction. She also held management roles at Lucy Activewear and Bath & Body Works, overseeing daily operations and taking a lead role in recruiting, training, and developing staff. That combination of administrative work and people management is what she brought with her to the firm.
Kelly has been with The Wilson Law Firm for more than nine years. She provides direct legal support to Mr. Bach and handles case preparation and court scheduling for both Mr. Bach and Mr. Wilson, across practices running from reckless driving and DUI through larceny, drug and firearms charges, probation violations, and felony matters. She has also worked nearly all of the firm's civil post-conviction cases, which is separate work with its own filing requirements: restoration of firearm rights, restoration of driving privileges, expungement, and record sealing. In that time she has worked cases in more than a hundred different Virginia courts. Each one has its own filing practices, its own scheduling, and its own way of doing things, and knowing which is which is most of what keeps a case moving.
She also assists clients throughout the life of their cases and is often the person a client actually reaches on the days between court dates, when the questions are less about strategy and more about what to bring, where to go, and what the day in court will be like. A client who walks into a courtroom knowing what to expect is in a better position than one who does not, and much of Kelly's work is aimed toward supporting our clients as well as our attorneys.
Kelly has completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 24-hour course, DWI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. Preparing a DUI case means knowing which details matter, and that training shapes what she gathers from a client and how she organizes it for the attorney.
Outside the office, Kelly spends her time with her son and with family and friends, and enjoys the outdoors, sports, and music.
