Fred holds an Associate's Degree in Administration of Justice with an emphasis on Criminal Justice and has a well-rounded, technical understanding of Virginia's criminal justice system. Before joining The Wilson Law Firm, he spent 15 years as a legal assistant at another Northern Virginia firm, supporting attorneys handling criminal defense and personal injury cases, where his responsibilities included calendar management, file maintenance, correspondence, training new hires, and handling inquiries from potential clients. He later worked in the insurance industry before returning to the legal field.
Fred has been with The Wilson Law Firm for more than ten years. He is often the first person a prospective client speaks to, frequently within hours of an arrest, and much of his work is helping people who have never been through the criminal justice system understand what has happened to them and what comes next. Mr. Wilson's practice runs from reckless driving and DUI through assault, drug charges, hit and run, and felony matters, and over the past decade Fred has heard the first account of thousands of those cases, often before the client has seen a courtroom or read a summons closely. He provides direct legal support to Mr. Wilson and keeps the client, the attorney, and court staff current on where a case stands.
Fred has completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 24-hour course, DWI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, the same training given to the law enforcement officers who administer these tests during DUI/DWI investigations. Because he is often the first person to hear an account of a DUI arrest, that training means he recognizes what a caller is describing, whether it is a roadside test, a preliminary breath test, or an administrative license suspension.
Outside the office, Fred coaches youth baseball and basketball in Prince William County.
